A study to see if removing lymph nodes on top of radiation therapy will help treat breast cancer

Trial Summary

In this trial, researchers will assess three types of social support in the Social Intervention for Support during Treatment for Endometrial Cancer and Recurrence (SISTER) program for Black patients undergoing treatment for endometrial cancer. The three types of social support are: group support, 1:1 peer support, and enhanced usual care. SISTER aims at improving treatment completion and decreasing social isolation for Black patients. The study will randomly assign the participant into one of three groups.

Trial Design

2012 participants who have breast cancer and have received chemotheray and surgery will be recruited. About half of the participants will receive lymph node dissection and radiation therapy, while the other half will receive standard of care radiation therapy. The assignment will be random.

Inclusion Criteria

1. 18 years of age or older.
2. Diagnosed with breast cancer.
3. Completed neoadjuvant chemotherapy
4. Satisfy lymph node related medical conditions through lab tests

Exclusion Criteria

1. Below 18 years old
2. Have inflammatory breast cancer
3. Currently pregnant or nursing
